Another New Beginning

So, Emmy Live Blogs aside, you have probably noticed a bit of a lull in the blog for the past month or so. I announced a couple of months ago that some big changes were coming soon, and that time is now. Starting Monday, the Drunken Thieves blog will be no more, as we transition to a new blog. Drunken Thieves has been an incredibly positive experience for Kyu, Keskel, and I, but we all felt it was time for a change. When starting this blog, it was really more for us than for any potential readers, a good way for us to allow us to write on a consistent basis in a variety of ways about film, television, conventions, and so much more. But now that we’ve got over two years of blogging under our collective belt, it’s time to move onto bigger and better things. So some months ago we began plotting a new path for our blogging experiences, starting with Kyu stepping away from the Den while we figured out what to do next. Now things are finally together enough for us to move forward with our new endeavor.

So what is this all really going to mean?

A New Identity

Our new blog has a new name: We Have Always Lived in the Kraken. One major goal for the move was to come up with a name and a brand that better represented us and what we were writing about. This new title represents the unique perspective we’ve gained from plumbing the depths of pop culture our whole lives, and brings a bit more whimsy and style to our presentation.

A New Focus

With the new blog comes an unprecedented amount of planning and dedication from us. There will be consistent content, a regular schedule, and more writing than ever before. Helping us with that will be semi-regular guest bloggers bringing their own perspectives on pop culture. We’ll be proud to bring you not only more of our own work but also other fresh, exciting voices with interesting things to say on film, television, and other pop culture topics.

A New Conversation

One of our other goals for the move was to make a more compelling and useful home for our work, a place where a community of like-minded people can grow. Our new blog will be more visually appealing, more easily navigable, and more inviting for those who wish to comment and discuss. That conversation will continue through our new, strong social media presence and eventually grow to incorporate other ventures, including an official podcast.

A New Era

For those of you who are frightened by change, be comforted! The new blog will continue several Drunken Thieves traditions, like the Killtoberfest horror movie marathon, and will feature a complete archive of content carried over from this site to the new one. The staff remains the same; we’re just giving up a life of crime and booze to go live in the belly of a great sea beast. We’re not the first to make that leap and I’m sure we won’t be the last.

For everyone else, and especially for us, this is a tremendously exciting transition. It’s the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. We hope that you’ll join us in our new home, and we promise to always make you feel welcome. The Kraken might look like a hideous monster, but he’s always happy to have new visitors. So come Monday, head over to our new digs and enjoy seeing our new look and new attitude in action. From now on, you can find us at:
